The offseason is here, but the World Series chatter is alive and well. The New York Yankees division rival, the Toronto Blue Jays, suffered arguably the worst loss ever when they dropped Game 7 at home to the Los Angeles Dodgers. That resulted in Yankees fans dancing on Blue Jays fans' graves for all the trolling Toronto did after defeating New York in the ALDS.
But ... wait. It appears as if Blue Jays fans can dish it, but they can't take it. After blowing a 3-2 lead with two home games remaining to the Dodgers, LA had its championship parade to celebrate their back-to-back titles. The moment that stood out was Kiké Hernandez's epic NSFW speech to the crowd at Dodger Stadium that went viral and ruffled some feathers.
MMA reporter Ariel Helwani, a Blue Jays fan who is from Canada, specifically took exception, calling out the Dodgers on his show this week. Once LA fans caught a few clips of what he said, the social media firestorm took over, and they had an unlikely ally in Yankees fans.
Let's preface it all by saying this: by no means can we fault Blue Jays fans for being salty (which Helwani admitted that he was). That was a gutting World Series loss, something the Yankees are familiar with. Their 2001 loss to the Diamondbacks was especially demoralizing and then the 2004 collapse vs the Red Sox all but officially stripped the franchise of its identity.
But neither of those things happened during the age of social media. We have constant receipts from the last 5-10 years. Receipts from Blue Jays fans making it their entire personality to ensure Yankees fans are living in a new version of hell when New York inevitably gets bounced from the postseason.
The Blue Jays hadn't made an ALDS since 2016 until this year. They've been largely irrelevant since their back-to-back championships in 1992-1993. They treated their first playoff series win against the Yankees as their personal World Series, with manager John Schneider ripping them in his victory speech. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went on national television to troll the Yankees with David Ortiz. The Jays played "New York, New York" in the visiting clubhouse on full blast as they celebrated. They endlessly claimed Trey Yesavage was better than Cam Schlittler for ... we don't know the reason.
On what PLANET do you think this is not going to come back to bite you harder than anything ever would?

Yankees, Dodgers fans unite in rare moment to dunk on former ESPN reporter's Blue Jays bias
Much like the Blue Jays, Helwani has every right to say how he feels ... but that will be subject to mass criticism when the time comes. And his time came much quicker than the Blue Jays' did, as Dodgers fans quickly referenced how disrespectful and childish Toronto was after their ALDS win, only to immediately get backed up by Yankees fans.
I love all the loser Yankee fans who are saying this still coping from the ass whooping the Jays gave yall 😂

Yankees fans, who were embarrassed by the Dodgers and also received endless trash-talked from them after last year's World Series win, did not hesitate to make sure this type of biased fandom was drowned out. Admittedly, Helwani probably isn't too far in the weeds with the heinous Blue Jays fan behavior on social media because he has a job with prestige, but he should at least understand the online landscape at this point. If you have a platform and throw stones in glass houses ... well, you get it.

Salty Yankees fan who lost to said Jays
That said, Helwani's MMA/WWE/boxing coverage is excellent. As fans reminded him after all of this, he should stick to that and stay out of the way of rabid baseball fans who are ready to pounce the moment they hear something they don't like.
