Yankees reveal first lineup of spring training for opening game vs Phillies
It's here. The one Yankees lineup of 2023 that no one's allowed to complain about! Though we hear you straining not to ask why IKF is leading off...
The New York Yankees kick off spring training action on Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies in Clearwater, and the battle is only being televised for Pennsylvania locals on NBC Sports Philadelphia. That means New Yorkers will have to wait for the A Lineup, which will probably be coming in their first televised spring game, a split-squad affair on Sunday.
Still, Aaron Boone and Co. have mixed in a few special treats for the paying customers at Phillies camp, bringing Gleyber Torres, left-field competitor Oswaldo Cabrera, and "DH" Harrison Bader for entertainment purposes.
Oh, right, and JASSON DOMINGUEZ himself is batting seventh, kicking off the prospect portion of the batting order.
This would be a borderline national holiday no matter who was playing, but seeing the Martian against the defending NL Champs just kicked it up a notch.
Yankees Lineup: How to Watch Spring Training Opener vs Phillies
Saturday's full schedule shows half of Philly's roster will be away at Tigers camp, playing a game that will not be televised. That means your MLB.TV subscription will most likely get you access to this game, unless you happen to have NBC Sports Philadelphia in your cable package. Then you're set either way.
Shoutout to our Delaware County Yankee fans. Grab a hoagie from Wawa and watch Ryan Weber deal.
The Phillies, also loath to show off too many superstars too early in camp, are rolling with regulars Brandon Marsh and Alec Bohm atop their lineup, but aren't showing off too many familiar names ... oh, except for Nick Nelson, the ex-Yankee farmhand and disappointing reliever. He'll be starting.
And nothing screams spring like a Yankee you'd rather forget buzzsawing you in a different uniform!
Nope. Can't even get mad about that today. Baseball's back. It's so back. And it has a pitch clock now so, uh, keep your eyes peeled for what that does, too.
