Manny Machado’s agent, Dan Lozano, released a statement slamming two prominent baseball writers recent reporting regarding his client stating that it was inaccurate and reckless. If the reports of the White Sox offering Machado a 7-year, $175 million deal was false perhaps the Yankees are still in play?

Ouch! I don’t think anyone saw this coming. Yesterday, Dan Lozano slammed two journalists, Buster Olney of ESPN and Bob Nightengale of USA Today, for reporting inaccurate information of his superstar client, Manny Machado. Since the White Sox haven’t actually sent a formal offer to Machado, is it possible that the Yankees are still in play?

That message was pretty intense as well, capturing the fans attention. Specifically, David named the two journalists, rather than just speaking about the media in general. As you can imagine, this offseason has been whirling with constant rumors of the four-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove winner free agent. So it made David fed up with the false reports that affect both him and his client, Machado.

Lozano stated he wasn’t sure if Buster and Bob’s sources were violating the Collective Bargaining Agreement by deliberately misleading the two journalists. It would affect the salary that Machado would potentially receive from any teams, or if the sources were lying to the journalists. It sucks to be those two journalists as that could potentially hurt their reputations. It could also affect Manny’s salary in negative ways, which is presumably what motivated Lozano to speak out.

One of the recent reports was that the White Sox offered Manny a seven-year, $175 million deal, but that was apparently false. So for those fans who are upset that the Yankees’ haven’t swept in to sign Machado for that kind of deal, you can exhale now.

I’m not going to lie here; I thought that was a low deal for him. For a young player in his prime, he deserves much more and he should get it. Include a few opt-outs, perhaps at three years, and another at six years with up to $250 million, and I think that should be a good deal.

In the 2018 regular season, Manny hit .297/.366/.487 with 37 home runs and 107 RBIs. Having Manny on the team would be a great addition to the lineup, making the team a force to be reckoned with. The Yanks have a lot of money to spend. At least, for now, they do, until they decide to offer extensions, which I’m sure they will.

They better since they have amazing homegrown players filled with talent. And no, the Yankees aren’t cheap, despite the fans and the media are calling them just that.
