Yankees ace, Luis Severino, bounces back to dominate the Miami Marlins as the Bronx Bombers’ bats exploded for an impressive 12-1 win.

After two off days due to bad weather, the Yankees created a storm of their own for Derek Jeter’s Marlins, crushing them 12-1 on 15 hits, including five doubles and three home runs.

The Yanks took batting practice against former teammate Caleb Smith, who was sent to the Marlins with Starlin Castro as part of the trade that brought Giancarlo Stanton to New York. Smith lasted just 2.1 innings, allowing five runs on five hits, giving up five walks.

Stanton had another “tough day at the office,” and this time against his former team. He was the only one of the Yankees’ starters without a hit, going 0-for-3 with a walk, two strikeouts and stranding three men on base.

Aaron Judge extends his league-leading hit streak to 12 games

Judge, the Yankees’ right fielder, finished a short outing, going 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and a walk before being rewarded with the rest of the day off in the seventh inning. Judge was replaced by the recently re-acquired Jace Peterson.

Didi Gregorius was also sent to an early dinner, being replaced by Tyler Wade in the bottom of the seventh, but not before he homered twice, driving in three runs, and scoring three times himself.

Gary Sanchez must have also been hungry as he was replaced in the same inning by Austin Romine. El Gary had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a walk, collecting three RBI.

Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman must have decided that Aaron Hicks had been rested long enough during his stint on the DL, so Hicks remained in the game, going 1-for-4, lining a solid two-RBI single and drawing a walk.

Tyler Austin and Miguel Andujar each went 2-for-4, with two doubles, a walk and an RBI apiece. Austin saw his batting average climb to .289, while Andujar managed his second multi extra-base hit game in a row.

Brett Gardner had another productive day at leadoff, going 2-for-5 and scoring twice. The very hot Ronald Torreyes slowed down a little, managing just one hit in five attempts with a run scored as his batting average fell to .385 (not too shabby).

The Yankees’ bullpen started off a bit shaky when Adam Warren pitched the seventh inning and loaded the bases, but then stabilized without incident when he was able to strikeout the next two batters and get out of the inning without giving up any runs.

Chasen Shreve pitched the eighth inning, allowing one unearned run on an error by Andujar — and then Dellin Betances, the Yankees’ erratic four-time All-Star, returned to the mound after his terrible outing vs. the Tigers on Friday to pitch a scoreless ninth inning, fanning two.

Although the Yankees were playing the lowly 4-11 Marlins, this was an important confidence builder and is the team’s second win in a row. If the Yanks win the next game, they’ll officially be on a winning streak.
