Could Alex Rodriguez manage the New York Yankees in 2018?
With the Yankees recently parting ways with manager Joe Girardi, could Alex Rodriguez be his potential replacement?
It was announced Thursday morning that the New York Yankees will be parting ways with manager Joe Girardi and therefore will have the spot vacant as we head closer to the offseason.
Following the announcement, many names started circulating as a potential replacement including Don Mattingly, Al Pedrique, Tony Pena, Raul Ibanez, and a number of others.
Another name who many kept mentioning was former Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez.
This is a very interesting scenario which is unlikely to happen, but if it were to happen there would certainly be many Yankees’ fans who would be ecstatic due to the popularity Rodriguez still has with the fan base.

An aspect that would make sense if A-Rod were to take over the managerial role is the tremendous impact he would have on the younger players. An example of this could be seen this past summer when Rodriguez met with catcher Gary Sanchez for lunch and positively affected his confidence entirely.
After receiving some advice from Rodriguez (and J-Lo) at lunch, Sanchez went on a tear over his next five games, batted .471 with three home runs and six RBI’s.
“Everything that comes from him is positive,’’ Sanchez told the New York Post. “We talked a little bit about defense, creating a routine, following your routine, preparing for games and we keep talking, phone calls here and there, and like I said [Friday], anything that comes from Alex is helpful.’’
Rodriguez has a special personality and 20 years of major league experience, which is exactly why the Yankees brought him into Spring Training this past year — to try and rub some of his knowledge off on the generation of players.
The Fox Sports analyst even took a number of “Baby Bombers” out to dinner during camp, as a way to try and make them feel more relaxed and help them adjust to their first full season in the majors.
This is not the type of thing we ever heard former manager Joe Girardi doing and this was apparently not appreciated much by the Yankees’ front office.
If the Yankees are looking for a manager to replace Girardi who will apply a more “human touch” to the job, they should really look no further than A-Rod. He may not have the same experience and track record that other candidates may have but he does have the complete package from the mental aspect of things.

Nonetheless, Alex Rodriguez as the next Yankees’ manager does seem like a long shot, but fans shouldn’t be surprised at all if Hal Steinbrenner gave the mega-personality a bit of consideration for the position.
