On this episode, we look ahead to the Yankees’ weekend series in Comerica Park against the Detroit Tigers
On the latest episode of the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, I started off the episode by talking about the New York Yankees taking two out of three from the Houston Astros. While there was the controversial play on Tuesday involving Dellin Betances and Carlos Correa, the story of New York’s opening series was the success of the offense.

In addition to finally scoring some runs against Dallas Keuchel, the Bronx Bombers put up 24 runs in the last two games and hit six home runs. Starlin Castro stole the show in his first series as a Yankee as he went 7-for-12 in the three games with two home runs and eight RBI’s.
Now, the Yankees are in Detroit today to take on the Tigers, who swept their first series of the season against the Miami Marlins. Brad Ausmus’ team scored 15 runs in the first two games and Victor Martinez had two of Detroit’s five home runs in that series.

The offense has always been a strength for the Tigers with guys like Martinez and Miguel Cabrera, but they added to that lineup during the offseason when they signed Justin Upton to a six-year deal worth $132.75 million (two-year opt-out). Also, they added to their rotation by signing former National Jordan Zimmermann to a five-year deal worth $110 million.
To talk more about the Tigers, my guest was Aaron Nusbaum, a staff writer over at Motor City Bengals. Aaron gave his grade of the offseason and talked about Detroit’s new bullpen, which had some rough patches in the first two games. Here were the topics we discussed:
