This week’s episode of the YGY Radio Show featured a look back at the best moments of the 2015 season and more Aroldis Chapman reaction

On Wednesday night’s episode of the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, I gave my initial reaction to the New York Yankees trading for closer Aroldis Chapman from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for minor leaguers Tony Renda, Caleb Cotham, Eric Jagielo, and Rookie Davis. My initial thoughts were while there is risk in acquiring a closer who is currently under investigation by MLB for a domestic violence incident, it’s a good risk by Brian Cashman as he now has a three-headed monster in the bullpen with Chapman, Dellin Betances, and Andrew Miller that can shorten games for a questionable starting rotation.

To help further breakdown the Chapman trade, my guest for this episode was Matt Wilkes, the editor of the Reds’ site on the Fansided network, Blog Red Machine. What were Matt’s initial thoughts on the deal and how do former Yankees’ prospects such as Jagielo, Rookie Davis, and Rule V pick Jake Cave fit into the Cincinnati farm system?

Plus, Matt and I talked about the Reds’ rebuilding plan and whether or not they were too late in dealing some of their key players, such as Chapman and third baseman Todd Frazier (now with the Chicago White Sox). Also, we discuss how the Reds seem to be stuck with Brandon Phillips after he declined waiving his no-trade clause to go to Washington and when could Jay Bruce be traded? Finally, is manager Bryan Price still on the hot seat even though the organization is in full rebuilding mode?

For the second segment, I wanted to take a look back at some of my favorite moments of the 2015 New York Yankees’ season, one of which included the night New York celebrated a playoff spot. While some fans did not like celebrating a wild card berth, I disagree with them because in this age of parity in baseball, you never know when you will get back to the playoffs. Plus, you will hear why I have the Yankees’ 19-inning loss to the Red Sox back in April as one of my memorable moments of the season.
