Yanks Go Yard Radio Show Rewind: 2015 Winter Meetings Recap Day 3

During last night’s episode, we gave our thoughts on the Justin Wilson trade and got more reaction from the Winter Meetings in Nashville.

On last night’s episode of the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, I gave my thoughts on the big New York Yankees news of the day. Last night, New York sent left-handed reliever Justin Wilson to the Detroit Tigers for two right-handed pitching prospects, Luis Cessa and Chad Green.

To me, it was a surprise that the Yankees dealt Wilson because of the success he had in 2015 against lefties and righties (3.10 ERA in 74 appearances). However, New York does have other lefties waiting in the wings such as Jacob Lindgren and the two minor league pitchers they received are much needed depth at the upper levels of the farm system. Plus, who knows what other moves Brian Cashman has up his sleeve for this bullpen?

My first guest on last night’s show was Steven McNeil, one of the co-editors at the Cardinals’ Fansided site, RedBird Rants. I wanted to get Steven’s take on St. Louis’ quiet offseason, even though they traded outfielder Jon Jay to San Diego for infielder Jedd Gyorko this week in Nashville. What is the reaction to missing out on starters David Price and Jeff Samardzija and what chance do the Cardinals have at bringing back Jason Heyward for the outfield? Finally, what is on general manager John Mozeliak’s wish list now that the meetings are almost over?

My second guest on the show was Kyle Franzoni, who was live in Nashville for the Winter Meetings representing the baseball division of Fansided. Kyle shared his thoughts on the Meetings and what his takeaways are from this week in Tennessee. Kyle and I also discussed the latest on Heyward, Chris Davis, and Jose Fernandez. Plus, the two of us shared our thoughts as to which team won the Shelby Miller trade between the Diamondbacks and the Braves, the reaction to the Wilson trade, and what has been the buzz around the Meetings about the Aroldis Chapman news?

Tomorrow night will be the last show of the week as we wrap up the 2015 Winter Meetings and look back at this morning’s Rule V Draft to see if any Yankees players were drafted to other teams or if New York added another player on to the 40-man roster. The show will begin at 9 PM ET.
