Yankees News: Pinder Recalled: De La Cruz Optioned
By Jason Evans
The Yankees bullpen roller coaster ride continues. Branden Pinder will get his chance to be on the roster. Pinder was added to the 40-man roster this winter to protect him from the Rule V draft. Joel De La Cruz, we hardly knew ya. He was optioned to AA Trenton. Kyle Davies went unclaimed when DFA’d and was sent to AAA to take Pinder’s spot. Pinder probably won’t be here for too long. Chasen Shreve can come back next Wednesday.

The 26-year old Pinder has pitched in three games for AAA, pitching three scoreless frames, giving up three hits and striking out five.

Last year, between three levels, he went 3-0 with a 2.06 ERA in 29 games. He struck out 37 in 39.1 innings, giving up 29 hits and walking nine.
It appears that Esmil Rogers will be ready to take back the long man spot in the bullpen and Pinder can be another right-handed short reliever that Joe Girardi can go to.
We’ll see if Pinder can make his debut tonight or not.
