*Editor’s Note: This episode was recorded before David Robertson agreed to a four-year deal with the Chicago White Sox, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today

This week on the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, brought to you by KNODA.com, we will be doing a 90-minute show each night, starting at 9:30 PM ET where we will breakdown the day’s action at the Winter Meetings in San Diego, California. Day 1 saw the Chicago Cubs sign Jason Hammel to a two-year deal, the Cleveland Indians acquire Brandon Moss in a trade with the Oakland A’s and that a deal is close where Jeff Samardzija could be on his way to the Chicago White Sox in a trade from Oakland, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports and MLB Network.

More from Yankees News

To begin the show, I had the privilege of being joined by Bryan Hoch, the Yankees’ writer at MLB.com, who is at the Winter Meetings. During our conversation, Bryan and I discussed whether or not re-signing Chase Headley is the top priority for New York and how likely a return to the Bronx is for David Robertson. Plus, why haven’t the Yankees shown more public interest in Jon Lester and could the Lester sweepstakes determine whether or not the team will be interested in Max Scherzer to improve their rotation?

During our next segment, I spoke with Tom Lynch, a staff writer over at Venom Strikes about the Arizona Diamondbacks. There was a report late Monday night from Jon Morosi of FOX Sports that the Diamondbacks could trade catcher Miguel Montero to the Chicago Cubs. We got Tom’s reaction about that report and what it might mean for former Yankees’ prospect Peter O’Brien. Arizona has already traded for Jeremy Hellickson to improve the rotation and signed Cuban outfielder Yasmany Tomas to a six-year deal, but could Tomas see time at third base?

In addition to Tom’s reactions on those moves, he gives his thoughts on the three-team trade that took place Friday where Arizona received left-hander Robbie Ray and prospect Domingo Leyba from the Tigers. The Yankees received shortstop Didi Gregorius in that deal that sent Shane Greene to Detroit. What did Tom think of Gregorius in Arizona and how does he think he will fare in New York.

Joe Vitulli, the writer of the Bombers’ Bites here at Yanks Go Yard also joined the show last night. While we discussed Headley, Robertson, and Lester, Joe and I also gave our thoughts on which teams, other than the Yankees, that we are watching at the Winter Meeetings. Joe is focusing on two American League teams (Red Sox and Orioles) while my focus is on two National League teams (Mets and Padres).
