The Charleston RiverDogs (61-63) lost to the Rome Braves (48-76) 3-2.

Andy Beresford wasn’t terrible Thursday night, but unfortunately wasn’t good enough for the win. Beresford fell to 1-1 on the season. He hurled 5.2 innings of three run ball striking out two, walking three all while allowing three runs to cross home plate. Conor Mullee and Eric Ruth combined for 3.1 hitless and scoreless innings to keep the RiverDogs in the hunt.

Center fielder Brandon Thomas led the seven hit attack for the RiverDogs with a 2-for-3 night, driving in one run and scoring another. Outfielder Michael O’Neill played the unfortunate goat of the game. The RiverDogs strung together a two out rally in the bottom of the ninth to load the bases. Michael O’Neill popped out to strand his third, fourth and fifth runners of the night. First baseman Mike Ford continued his hot hitting, picking up a hit on the night. He is now batting .306 over his last ten games. Second baseman Gosuke Katoh went 1-for-2 on the night drawing two walks.
