The Tampa Yankees (61-62) played two against the Lakeland Flying Tigers (59-60).
GAME ONE: Tampa falls 1-0.
Brady Lail was the tough luck loser Thursday night. He pitched a heck of a game but was unable to garner any support from the Tampa offense. Lail went five innings, striking out two while walking just one and allowing one run. It was Lail’s best start of late as he has been struggling since being promoted. The offense mustered five hits. First baseman Danny Oh and outfielder Ericson Leonora picked up two hits each on the night.
GAME TWO: T-Yanks split double header with a 4-3 win.
Caleb Smith wasn’t at his best Thursday night but he was a strike out machine none the less. Smith came out guns a-firing striking out nine on the evening while only walking one. He let up a first inning two run home run, but was able to regroup after that. Cesar Vargas struck out two with out letting up a run in his ninth inning of work to pick up his eighth save of the season. Cathcer Kyle Higashioka provided the fireworks going 2-for-2 on the night with his first double and first home run on the season. Short stop Cito Culver drove in two runs.
