Thus far in day two, the New York Yankees have selected right-hander Drew Finley, out of Rancho Bernardo High School, and center fielder Jeff Hendrix, out of Oregon State University. With their fifth-round selection, and 153rd overall, the Yankees have selected relief pitcher Chance Adams out of Dallas Baptist University.

Adams is the Yankees’ sixth selection in the 2015 MLB draft. Adding onto the pitching depth, the Yankees added an additional pitcher to their selections, but this time intending as purely a relief pitcher.
The Yankees are getting a hard throwing right-hander in Adams. Coming in at 6’0″ and 205 pounds, according to the Dallas Baptist Universities’ athletics page, proving a potential force in the bullpen. Having a 96 mph fastball aids you, but being able to throw a slider down helps with the velocity differences plays in your favor. Scouts see him as a more complete pitcher, opposed to fellow Dallas Baptist teammates being selected prior to him.
According to Baseball America, Adams is ranked 20th in the state of Texas, while being ranked 245th overall. Although the numbers seem enticing, the expectations should not be exaggerated.
Adams has a nose for the strike zone, thus making him consistent. Although Adams does not have a surplus of projection, he generates a multitude of strikeouts, as stated earlier.
During the 2015 season with Dallas Baptist, Adams posted a 1.99 earned run average in 54.1 innings. In addition, Adams struck out 77 batters in those 54.1 innings.
Dallas Baptist has produced an excessive amount of solid pitching arms throughout the years, Adams being one of them. Throughout the season, Adams fought for playing time, ultimately receiving it as he played a vital role late in the games.
