If the New York Yankees were going to come back and have a good season, Mark Teixeira was going to need to have a good comeback season as well. Well, he’s been a huge part of it. Even if his batting average is in the .240’s the power and the run production is there. His four RBI night on top of Adam Warren‘s strong night gave the Yankees their second straight win over the Royals 5-1.

Jason Vargas got the start for KC and struck out the first two hitters. He then walked Alex Rodriguez and then Mark Teixeira hit a two-run homer to give the Yankees a quick lead.

Warren would set down the first 10 hitters he faced and the game remained 2-0 going into the fifth.

Chris Young and A-Rod singled. That set up Teixeira again to launch a two-run double and he moved to third on Lorenzo Cain‘s error. Chase Headley would then drive in Tex with a sac fly.

The Royals only run came in the sixth when Paulo Orlando launched his first homer.

Justin Wilson, Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller would take care of the rest over 2.1 innings, giving up two hits and striking out four.

The Yankees look for the sweep tomorrow afternoon at 1:05. Chris Young will face Michael Pineda in a rematch from a couple of weeks ago.
