Yankees Pitching Options Seem To Get Slimmer By The Day

The Yankees’ silence during the free agency season so far has slid by the media because many thought they were going to make some noise during the Winter Meetings. After they came up empty-handed and slowly watched their targets being placed on other teams, it is safe to say that the Yankees may have started to push that panic button. Bottom line is: they need to add some starting pitchers, and they need to do it sooner rather than later.

Part of the Yankees problem is they don’t have very much flexibility when it comes to trading a position player for a pitcher. While they would have loved to get someone like pitcher Rick Porcello, the Yankees can’t afford to trade someone like Brett Gardner  to make room. He is just too valuable, and the center piece for the outfield.

Brian Cashman even checked in on Jeff Samardzija from the Athletics, even though his performance wasn’t that great this past season. However, the Yankees couldn’t even come up with a deal to match. They contemplated on giving up Rob Refsnyder, but he is supposed to be one of the breakout players this upcoming season.

All in all, the time bomb for how much time is left in the off-season is going to explode before we know it. Many Yankees fans are worried about what the starting rotation is going to look like for Opening Day, but Cashman assures that things will fall into place. When all else fails, they can just continue their chase after Max Scherzer.
