Are the Yankees Right At Right Field?
The question for the Yankees has been whether right field would be a position of need at least down the road. However, are they setting up for a change at that position earlier than we think? There have been numerous rumors surrounding Nick Swisher in potential trade. Just a few weeks ago, a team that asked the Yankees about Swisher was the Cleveland Indians. The Tribe re-signed center fielder Grady Sizemore earlier in the offseason, but could use a bat at the corner outfield position. This week, I came across a tweet from MLB insider Jon Heyman. He said that [...]

Andruw Jones Re-signs with Yankees
According to Jon Heyman on twitter Andruw Jones has agreed to a $2 million base with incentives. The incentives are worth about $1.4 million. The only thing keeping this from hitting the ink right now is a physical. Which Jones should pass. I’m a big fan of the signing. Jones isn’t the hitter he once was, but he provided some pop off the bench. His isolated power (ISO) was .247 last year and he hit 13 home runs in 222 plate appearances. That’s good for a bench player and he gave the Yankees a 1.4 WAR. Add in a triple slash [...]

Yankees Acquire Okajima
Yesterday, general manager Brian Cashman went back into the bargain basement store like he did last year and he may have found a nice sale on an ex-Boston Red Sox. According to Cashman, New York has signed former Boston lefty Hideki Okajima to a minor league contract and will be invited into spring training via a non-roster invitation. This move may not get the pub that the Boston Red Sox will get after trading for Oakland Athletics’ closer Andrew Bailey. But again, we have to bring up the point that the New York Yankees did not need to make a [...]

Alex Rodriguez Knee Procedure?
Well apparently Kobe Bryant knows the scoop on Alex Rodriguez according to the NY Post. According to multiple sources, the Yankees third baseman recently followed a recommendation from Bryant, the Los Angeles Lakers star, and traveled to Germany for an experimental therapy called Orthokine on his bothersome right knee. It seems that many athletes think this treatment works. Rodriguez also said he wouldn’t go through with it without the Yankees consent. This quote is too from the NY Post. “A lot of athletes I’ve talked to really think this stuff works, but we really don’t have a lot of scientific [...]

Making A Pitch For Whitey Ford …
New York Yankees legendary pitcher Whitey Ford is amazing for some odd facts almost as much as for his accomplishments on the mound. As great as Ford was, posting a 236-106 record with a 2.75 lifetime ERA and nearly 2,000 strikeouts in his 18-year career in Pinstripes, there was a time where he was “just” the Yanks No. 4 starter. It was understandable, as Allie Reynolds, Vic Raschi and Eddie Lopat.were ahead of Ford after he returned from serving in the Korean War. Ford, who boasted impeccable control, also never tossed a no-hitter though he once tossed consecutive one-hitters. The [...]
