UPDATE: 10:24 PM
The rain has returned, and the Yankees and Giants are delayed with New York down 9-1 in the sixth. This ... has to be done, right?
The New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants certainly hope to get a trio of games in this weekend, but the impending weather forecast may have other ideas with Friday being the first game set to be impacted..
Sunday's game - for now - appears to be the least affected by the potential of a washout. Saturday afternoon's 3:05 EDT start could be bitter cold and wet, however, and Friday night's matchup is going to have to wait a bit as we are officially in a rain delay. Fortunately, it may be a short one.
Please be advised first pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Both teams had announced lineups and intended to proceed as normal, but the Yankees' Twitter account responded to fans' caution at 3:50 PM EDT on Friday evening, noting that - as of that moment in time - gates were still scheduled to open at 5:30 PM EDT for a 7:05 PM EDT first pitch. The gates did open on time without incident other it being wet and gross outside.
As Yankees fans, who've been soaked before with beers and burgers in hand, can attest, the opening of the gates does not always signify the timely completion of a game. In fact, fans are experiencing just that as we speak.
Yankees vs. SF Giants Rain Delay for Friday, April 11: Game status and weather updates
The latest hourly forecast for the Bronx on Friday night indicates that this game might be one that's only for the true sickos. MLB surely doesn't want to mess with one of the Giants' rare trips to the east coast, and both the Giants and Yankees intend on playing postseason baseball this year/having their seeding matter.
As a result, the league is going to do their level best to try and get this game in as they can. A doubleheader is a possibility this weekend (probably Sunday), but that is far from an ideal solution for a west coast team making one of their few trips out east.
As of this writing, there's at least a 79% chance of rain every hour in the Bronx through midnight, with showers expected to begin around 5:30 PM EDT before worsening (hey, wait, coincidentally that's exactly when the gates opened! The weather has been pretty miserable ever since and the radar does not look promising for the next several hours.
Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available. If this game does get played, the Yankees will be resting Jasson Dominguez and employing their lefty-mashing lineup (with Paul Goldschmidt leading off, but Ben Rice still playing and hitting second) against Robbie Ray. Marcus Stroman will oppose the Giants' flamethrowing lefty, seeking his first victory of the season. Mike Yastrzemski, the Giants' splash hit walk-off hero from Wednesday night, will try the leadoff spot on for size, as San Francisco employs a shakeup.
