Mother Nature is always inevitable at the start of the MLB season, and while fans would prefer that teams like the Yankees in the northeast avoid their home turf as much as possible before May, that's an imperfect solution at best.
After all, even though the Yankees are on the road now, they're still encountering their first major disruptions of the year, narrowly avoiding wet disaster in Pittsburgh before heading to Detroit.
24 hours before their arrival in the Motor City, their schedule has already changed in the interest of avoiding a washout.
The Yankees' three-game set with the Tigers, slated to feature the pitching of Casey Mize, Tarik Skubal, and Jack Flaherty, was already slated to be a tough task even before factoring in the supposed weather conditions. Factor in prescribed wind chills in the 20s and potential additional weather events, and it was in everyone's best interest to stay out of the night time.
Instead, the Yankees and Tigers will play a 3:10 p.m. EST game on Monday, followed by 1:10 p.m. EST games on Tuesday and Wednesday. All three contests were initially scheduled for 6:40 p.m. EST.
Due to forecasted evening wind chills in the 20s and other weather considerations, scheduled first pitch times for Tigers vs. Yankees games at Comerica Park have been adjusted from 6:40 p.m. to 3:10 p.m. on Monday, and 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Yankees Weather: Schedule updates, start time changes vs. Detroit Tigers Monday through Wednesday
Something tells me there are going to be a lot of fans trying to exchange those tickets for alternate occasions, perhaps during the summer.
Despite the start time shift, it still seems fair to expect face coverings and hooded undershirts to deal with Detroit's early season frostbitten madness. Stay tuned for any further updates. Hopefully, MLB got wind of the worst of it and scheduled around potential disaster, but you can never know for sure exactly when the tarp is going to rear its ugly head.
Projected pitching matchups include Carlos Rodón vs. Mize, Carlos Carrasco vs. Skubal, and Max Fried vs. Flaherty. The Tigers have begun the season treading water in the muddled AL Central, led by the powerful bat of Kerry "Kerry Bonds" Carpenter.
Gleyber Torres, initially expected to see his former team in this series for the first time since his departure and the ensuing war of words, will miss all three contests, no matter the start times; he suffered an oblique issue last week, which will linger.
