The New York Yankees' roster underwent an anticipated shuffle on Tuesday afternoon. Thankfully, it wasn't as painful as it could've been.
As announced by Aaron Boone on Tuesday's Talkin' Yanks podcast, Jazz Chisholm Jr. has healed swiftly and returned from his rehab assignment; he'll play third base in his first lineup back. As announced by Jeff Passan last night, Luke Weaver is not a-ok; Boone and Co. are still waiting for a second opinion on the severity of his hamstring issue, but he was removed from the 26-man as well.
The Yankees brought Chisholm back to the active roster in the mid-afternoon, optioning Jorbit Vivas to Triple-A, the only backup infielder on the roster with minor-league options remaining. They sent Carlos Carrasco to waivers and Weaver to the 15-Day IL in order to make room for the returns of Fernando Cruz and Yerry de los Santos.
Notably, they did not place Jasson Domínguez on the injured list, or shuffle him around whatsoever. Hopefully, that silence speaks volumes.

Domínguez won't start Tuesday after having trouble gripping a bat, with inflammation spurred on by an awkward slide into second base on Sunday night. There's no better time for a breather than I Have Hand Pain o'Clock, and the Yankees have enough outfield horses to cover for him if he takes a day or two out of the lineup. Nobody wants to lose him for any length of time, though, especially as he's found his sea legs in recent weeks, hitting .247 with six homers and a 117 OPS+. Prospect fatigue that.
Thankfully, Chisholm and Cruz returning made Tuesday's shuffle at least half-jubilant, even though losing Weaver ahead of a stretch of Guardians/Red Sox/Royals on the road/Red Sox at Fenway is less than ideal. Hopefully, the third baseman heats up upon reentry; he was down to a 101 OPS+ and .181 average when he hit the IL initially after a scorching hot start.
More word on Domínguez will likely come prior to Wednesday's game, whether he participates or not.
