There are few injury situations that don't absolutely infuriate New York Yankees fans, but the most recent one with Aaron Judge is not one of those. In fact, this one is the kind that has everybody losing hope in the organization.

Judge has been terrible for just about a full month now. Over his last 24 games, he's hitting .213 with a .695 OPS. Over his last 11 games, those numbers drop to .171 and .564. His overall season numbers are good, but they're still not "Judgian."

It would appear there's a reason why. And it's not because Judge is "washed" as all the haters would want you to believe. It's because he's been dealing with shoulder soreness for WEEKS that the organization opted not to address until ... just now.

Judge is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Cleveland Guardians after imaging revealing a bone bruise in his "right clavicle area". It's been dubbed a shoulder injury as well as a rib injury. Classic Yankees yet again! Different reports regarding a somewhat notable injury to the best hitter on planet Earth!

The Yankees just played six games against two inferior opponents in the Royals and Athletics. Judge, outside of the scheduled off day on Thursday, did not get a breather. In fact, Judge hasn't gotten a single day off this entire year! He's played in all of the team's 59 games.

Aaron Judge's "slump" can be explained by shoulder/rib injury that was just revealed

Why do the Yankees do this? Why are they already dubbing this a potential day-to-day situation, too? Haven't they learned?

There has been zero reason to force Judge into action every single game during the month of May. Not only was he performing poorly, but the offense was largely holding its own, and Aaron Boone possessed the necessary flexibility to move things around.

We understand that also wouldn't have been a perfect situation. Fans also would've questioned why Judge was randomly out of the lineup when he didn't need to be. But the Yankees could've just been forthcoming and said he was a bit run down. Back in 2024, Aaron Boone had no problem telling the media Judge was dealing with "mid-spring beat up", which is something that isn't real whatsoever.

Or, better yet, he could've simply said Judge needs a day after pacing for a career high in strikeouts and hitting just two home runs since May 7. It's as simple as "our best player needs a day, he's been trying to carry the load as the lineup has been tested by countless injuries."

Instead, they waited and waited. And now it won't be surprising at all if Judge hits the IL as the Yankees endure an incredibly important part of their schedule. They have six games against the Guardians, three against the Red Sox and three against the Blue Jays over the next two weeks.

They could've gotten ahead of this when the schedule was as soft as it gets, but they once again put themselves in a precarious injury situation that was totally avoidable. The same story almost every season. Around we go.
