You have to feel for New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez. After getting snubbed coming out of spring training for the dearly departed Randal Grichuk, Dominguez did everything that was asked of him down in Scranton.
That gave him a new lease on life in the majors, but now it might be a while before we see the Martian on the field again.
Much maligned for his defense, the youngster was tested in the first inning of Thursday's series finale vs the Rangers. He ranged back in left field to make a spectacular catch at the wall, robbing Brandon Nimmo of extra bases on the first at-bat of the game.
But Dominguez crashed hard into the wall and laid motionless on the field for a good while after his back and head crushed into the thin padding.

He'd end up being carted off the field, shaking his head in despair. We'll need to wait for tests to come back, but the initial read is that this is a serious injury that could keep him out for some time.
Jasson Dominguez's scary moment could leave the Yankees without him for weeks
This is the second major injury scare for Dominguez, who last week was struck in the elbow by a pitch from Nathan Eovaldi. That ultimately ended up being nothing more than a startle, but at first glance this current injury scare seems much worse.
You have to really feel for the 23-year-old. He's made drastic improvements to his right-handed hitting thanks to some key adjustments. His defense, long a bugaboo, is still a work in progress with some ugly reps down in Scranton. But this kind of play was what you wanted to see, until it all went wrong.
It's sad to see a kid who worked so hard to get his game refined to the point that he could be a regular contributor for a highly competitive contender go through two serious injury scares in a short amount of time. Now he faces having his momentum completely broken and his opportunity potentially taken away as a red-hot Spencer Jones lurks down in Scranton.
Our thoughts are with him in this scary moment, and we'll hope that, like the first time around, things look a lot worse than they really are. In the meantime, we'll keep you updated as we learn more.
