The New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners have both won seven of their last 10 games and sit in third place in their respective divisions.
New York’s offense has come alive over the past month after a slow start to the season, and the team took its weekend series over the San Diego Padres with a high-scoring game on Sunday.
Seattle is just 24th in MLB in OPS this season, but the team’s young pitching has been great, including today’s starter Bryce Miller. The rookie is 3-1 with a 1.15 ERA in five starts this season, putting himself in the conversation for the AL Rookie of the Year at this point in the season.
New York will send Domingo German (2-3, 3.75 ERA) to the mound for his first start since his suspension for using “sticky stuff.”
How will German fare in his return? Here’s a look at the odds for this Yankees road matchup on Memorial Day:

I’m intrigued to see how German pitches in this spot after being accused of using an illegal substance against the Toronto Blue Jays on May 16.
If German has been getting away with something all season, it’s possible he could regress if he goes clean in this start. However, I don’t want to speculate, because he has been great this month, posting a 1.64 ERA across 22.0 innings of work.
What may be most impressive about Miller’s pitching is that he has a Fielding Independent Pitching of 1.88 to support his insane ERA.
The Mariners have gone UNDER eight runs in four of Miller’s five starts, hitting exactly eight in one of them.
This could be a spot where the Yanks’ offense takes a little step back, and the Mariners have been a bottom-10 unit for most of the 2023 season. Go UNDER on Monday night in Seattle.
