5 star players Yankees fans can't believe are still available after Winter Meetings

The Yankees were a no-show at the Winter Meetings, but thankfully the spectacle was a quiet affair.

The New York Yankees did nothing of substance at the Winter Meetings, and thankfully not too many other teams did either. Typically, the offseason's flashpoint, aside from a few big dominoes falling, this year's iteration was pretty much a snoozefest.

We saw Kyle Schwarber, Pete Alonso, and Edwin Diaz as the only true superstars to come off the board. The first two weren't really a fit for the Yankees, and Diaz would've been an expensive mistake.

We also saw nothing in the way of blockbuster trades, despite several stars rumored to be on the block. So while the Yankees' dormant showing is concerning, there are still enough players out there to prove that Brian Cashman was telling the truth when he said there is no firm budget he must adhere to.

Some stars weren't expected to move as they wait for other dominoes to fall, but others, we were sure would find a new home while the baseball world was all together in Orlando.

Yankees fans can't believe these 6 stars weren't on the move during the Winter Meetings

Kyle Tucker

A guy like Cody Bellinger is probably waiting for Kyle Tucker to find a new employer before he starts truly considering his options. Not only does Bellinger's agent, Scott Boras, like to draw out the process, but it's likely the interest around Bellinger heats up once Tucker is off the board.

As the top of the market option, it's a little curious that Tucker is still hanging out there after the Winter Meetings. One would have thought that he'd want to get out ahead of the negative rumors that threaten to take down his market.

If anything, the longer he waits to find a home, the better it might be for the Yankees' chances to add the superstar to their lineup.

Ketel Marte

Ketel Marte isn't really on the Yankees' radar unless the club is either willing to part with Jazz Chisholm Jr. in a deal or get creative and move their incumbent second baseman to the hot corner.

However, if Marte was going to move, one would have thought a deal would have come to fruition during the Winter Meetings. Now, the Yankees need to watch out as the Red Sox are a rumored suitor for him after missing out on Pete Alonso in their quest to add a true middle-of-the-order bat.

Freddy Peralta

The Milwaukee Brewers ace has been one of the most popular targets on the trade market, and Milwaukee's history of dealing walk-year aces to re-tool their roster with young, controllable major league talent has made it look like a deal is imminent.

However, he's still a Brewer for now, though the interest is heating up with the Yankees rumored to be on the prowl as the Winter Meetings came to a close, so perhaps the groundwork for a deal has already been laid.

Corey Seager

The Texas Rangers' payroll woes weren't completely abated by their non-tender pare down, and the deal that sent Marcus Semien to the Mets in exchange for Brandon Nimmo. With holes of their own to fill, one would have thought they'd be motivated to move Seager sooner rather than later so they can get down to business this winter.

Seager isn't a guarantee to be traded, but if the Yankees believe there's an inkling that he could be moved, they'd be wise to pounce.

Framber Valdez

It was widely assumed that after Dylan Cease set the market for starting pitchers, the rest of the top options would come flying off the board. Instead, we've seen very little movement on that front.

Framber Valdez likely was the top option even before Cease signed, and there has been some connection between him and the Yankees, even though a marriage would likely end in disaster. Regardless of whether or not the Yankees actually pursue Valdez, his landing spot could have a great impact, with both the Red Sox and Orioles expected to be in on him.
