Whew, what a comeback on Saturday night and what drama on Sunday night for the New York Yankees, but a series loss against the Mets has this team down bad.

They’re now out of a playoff spot for the first time since Aug. 16 and have officially blown a seven-game lead in the Wild Card race. If there’s such thing as good news at this point, we can look at their next 10 games.

While the Red Sox will have to take on the playoff-hopeful Mariners this week, the Yankees get the Twins on Monday, followed by nine games against the Orioles, Indians and Rangers. The job needs to be taken care of over this stretch.

It all starts with Monday’s makeup game against Minnesota, which will take place in the afternoon before New York heads to Baltimore for a three-game set against the O’s. Let’s take a look at the betting preview.

Luis Gil (1-0, 1.42 ERA) will head back out to the mound for the Yankees after last week’s loss to the Blue Jays, which featured his first earned runs as a pro. He issued seven walks in just 3.1 innings of work before Lucas Luetge let three of them in. Gee, shouldn’t have shoved the rookie back down to the minors for three weeks, huh?

For the Twins, it’ll be John Gant (5-9, 3.78 ERA), who was absolutely tattooed by the Bombers back on Aug. 19. However, the right-hander just tossed five scoreless and struck out seven against the Indians. Still, he has no quality starts on the year, and we really don’t think that’ll change on Monday. Length isn’t his strong suit.

Yankees vs Twins Prediction Today

Giancarlo Stanton lit a fire under this team when he talked trash to Francisco Lindor rounding the bases after his game-tying home run on Sunday night. Though Lindor got the last laugh and belted his third of the game the next inning to give the Mets a 7-6 victory, Stanton’s actions really should have the Yankees ready to control their destiny the rest of the way, and it starts against the Twins to kick off this advantageous 10-game stretch.

Yankees dominate (we hope) and win 8-2.
