The New York Yankees will have to make up a rescheduled game this evening, as their humungous series against the rival Red Sox will be preceded by a game against Shohei Ohtani and a Los Angeles Angels team trying to tread water in the AL West.

Aaron Boone’s guys are fresh off a series in which they took two of three road games against the Chicago White Sox, and a Tim Anderson walk-off home run in the Field of Dreams game being the only thing that prevented a New York sweep.

The Yankees will get a major boost when Gerrit Cole returns to the rotation following a bout with COVID-19. After holding the rotation together with duct tape, seeing Cole back is a very welcoming sight.

Still, New York has made it a habit of struggling to put away some inferior competition, and losing to the Angels would surprise no one considering how this season has gone. Cole needs to be as sharp as possible.

Yankees vs Angels Odds Today

According to our friends at WynnBET, the Yankees are -265 on the moneyline (bet $265 to win $100). Vegas is not only expecting a New York victory, but they’re anticipating that the Yankees will win convincingly.

If you prefer the run line, the Bronx Bombers are at -135 (bet $135 to win $100) to cover a 1.5-run spread, and the Angels are +115 (bet $100 to win $115) to win by two runs or more. The over/under is set at 8.5, with the over netting you -115 and the under -105.

Yankees Pitcher Today

New York will send Cole to the bump. While he hasn’t matched his dominance from earlier in the season, he remains one of the unquestioned best pitchers in the American League. He has the ability to remind the Angels lineup of the fact when he takes the mound tonight.

The Angels will counter with Jose Suarez. After putting up a gnarly ERA of close to 8.00 during his first two seasons, Suarez has a respectable 3.90 mark this season. Suarez allowed just one run in 5.1 innings during a start against the Yankees earlier in the season.

Yankees vs Angels Prediction

The Yankees aren’t playing their best offensive ball of late, and the fact that they can’t settle on a ninth-inning plan due to Zack Britton’s incompetence, but the fact that Cole is back on the mound should give them confidence.

Look for one of the right-handed power bats to launch a home run off of Suarez and for Cole to announce his return with a solid performance.

Yankees 4, Angels 2.
