The New York Yankees‘ major league roster might not be giving fans much hope, but the farm system is all the rage. Great news … for 2023!

But we’ll take any positivity during this 2021 nightmare. Guys like Oswald Peraza, Anthony Volpe, Ken Waldichuk and Glenn Otto are exceeding expectations in ways almost nobody expected.

And then there’s the prized possession Jasson Dominguez, whose hype train officially started to roll after a promotion to Single-A Tampa recently. He also appeared in the Futures Game this past Sunday in Colorado.

At the very least, the next potential dynastic Yankees’ core could be in the making. Looking forward to that should be encouraging, no?

Well, before we do that, how about we teach Mr. Dominguez how to slide properly, because we really cannot stomach to see a scary wipeout like what we saw on Thursday.

The switch-hitting slugger logged his first career triple in the pros and as he was closing in on third base he did … this.

Jasson Dominguez’s wipeout slide nearly gave Yankees’ fans a heart attack.

Did anyone else almost puke there in fear of a torn ACL, broken ankle or anything else lower-leg related? Every top prospect must be put in a glass case and protected until their day comes. Seeing any more guys’ timelines affected by injuries would be devastating.

How many other times have we’ve seen this? It’s currently happening with Clarke Schmidt. Remember James Kaprielian? Blake Rutherford was another. Jacob Lindgren. The list goes on.

But Dominguez is the undisputed No. 1 prospect. He’s going to rocket up the charts this offseason after his 2021 pro debut. No injuries, please. Get that sliding technique down pat. The man runs like a rhino (in a good way!), so perhaps some gracefulness on the base paths will be crucial in preserving his long-term health.

Even that turn around first base and slide into second were a tad eyebrow-raising! Let’s fine-tune this kid’s baserunning and ensure his future remains as bright as possible.

Three hits and two RBI in his first seven at-bats with the Tarpons. Any and all progress is welcome. Tripping and falling while legging out those hits, though? Nope. None of that, please.
