The Yankees are slowly getting players back from injury.

It’s not Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton or James Paxton, but this positive update will provide the New York Yankees with the necessary help the roster needs at this very moment.

According to the Yankees’ official Twitter account, prospect Miguel Yajure was sent back down to the Alternate Site after his electrifying MLB debut on Monday night and infielder Jordy Mercer was designated for assignment.

With those two openings, the team reinstated reliever Zack Britton and catcher Kyle Higashioka from the injured list.

Don’t worry folks, Erik Kratz is still on the roster, which indicates Deivi Garcia will make his second start with the team this Friday. Kratz caught the young right-hander’s debut on Sunday, and after the impressive performance and win over the Mets, Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman said we could be seeing Garcia again soon.

Kratz has been catching him at the Alternate Site over the last month, so expect the duo to take on the Orioles in a few days.

But more importantly, the bullpen gets Britton back, whose dreadful showing against the Tampa Bay Rays back on Aug. 19 culminated with the lefty going down with a hamstring injury, which was apparently suffered when he was running over to first base to field a throw from Luke Voit. Britton dropped the exchange, allowed an earned run, and Gerrit Cole’s 28-game unbeaten streak came to an end.

Now that he’s back, we don’t need to hear any excuses from Aaron Boone in regards to the bullpen being overused or watch him appear unsure who to use in higher-leverage situations.

As for Higashioka, he’ll eventually be the reason Kratz gets the boot, but more importantly, perhaps the Yankees can start holding Gary Sanchez accountable for his terrible play now that they have a reliable backup. Despite El Gary’s go-ahead grand slam in extras against the Mets on Sunday, he’s still fully lost at the plate and continues to let balls past him on defense.

Speaking of which, Higashioka is in the lineup for Gary on Tuesday night.

Though Gary is DHing because Boone refuses to give him a full night off for some reason.

Higgy had six home runs in 47 games across 2018 and 2019, so perhaps he can unleash some of that pop and give the Bombers an injection of offense whenever Sanchez gets a day off.

Though these moves aren’t groundbreaking, they’ll go a long way for the Bombers considering this roster needs all the help it can muster.
