Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman is working out like an animal while quarantining.
The Yankees injury woes have taken a new form in 2020, as two of their biggest stars — infielder DJ LeMahieu and closer Aroldis Chapman — both recently tested positive for the coronavirus. While the former has reported to the Bronx for summer camp, the latter is self-quarantining as he waits to be cleared by team doctors.
However, it would appear that COVID-19 is incapable of slowing the Cuban Missile down in private.
It was reported that Chapman was experiencing mild symptoms after testing positive, and he’s literally fending them off as if he was asymptomatic. Just days after Yankees manager Aaron Boone announced that he would be away from the club for the “foreseeable future,” the left-handed flamethrower posted a series of intense workouts on Instagram.

“I had an excellent week working at home, maintaining my work rhythm,” read Chapman’s caption. “Although I cannot leave the house, I’m trying to stay in shape. God willing, I will be able to come out negative to the next two COVID-19 test and I be able to join my teammates soon.”
We have a few takeaways from these clips.
First off, talk about working out with a view! There’s nothing quite like ripping through resistance squats while staring at some of New York City’s finest skyscrapers. Secondly, it looks as though Chapman could add two or three more plates and still power through this workout with ease.
Even during a spell with the coronavirus, the former Reliever of the Year is an animal in the weight room.
The Yankees clearly have the depth in their bullpen to hold down the fort until Chapman’s cleared to return. In the meantime, you can bet that the six-time All-Star is going to keep grinding to stay in the best shape possible while he’s forced to quarantine at home.
