The Yankees have broken the consecutive game home run record by hitting homers in 28 straight, breaking the Rangers mark of 27 straight games in 2002.

DJ LeMahieu’s leadoff home run in Tuesday night’s game against the Blue Jays broke the Rangers 17-year record of 27 straight. To add icing on the cake, Yankees slugger Aaron Judge followed by hitting his own long ball.

The record speaks volumes about the 2019 Yanks. When you have a dangerous team like this, big things happen.

We’re talking LeMahieu (which is funny considering fans weren’t happy that the Yanks signed him), Judge, Gary Sanchez, Giancarlo Stanton, Didi Gregorius, Luke Voit, Gleyber Torres, Aaron Hicks, Gio Urshela and now, Edwin Encarnación.

It shows how potent the lineup is as the team is 51-28, six games up in the ultra-competitive AL East. The Yanks who have contributed the most homers this season so far are:

More from Yankees News

  • Sanchez: 23
  • Torres: 18
  • Voit: 17
  • Clint Frazier: 11
  • Brett Gardner: 11
  • LeMahieu: 10
  • Urshela: 6

However, I’m more focused on the Yanks winning games and becoming AL East Division Champs. Postseason worthiness is one thing but avoiding the one-game Wild Card Game is ideal.

The Bombers are 23 games over .500 and sport a .646 winning percentage. The Yanks finished the 2018 season with a 100-62 record and were 38 games over .500, for a .617 win percentage. At this pace, the Yanks could play deeper into October than they did a season ago.

dark. Next. Yankees take offensive mindset to a new extreme

What many fans are thinking now is how many more consecutive games can the Bombers hit a home run? It’ll be exciting to watch. As Giancarlo Stanton recently said about the Yankee lineup, “I feel sorry for the baseballs”.
