Following the disappointing news that Miguel Andujar could miss anywhere from two weeks to the remainder of the season following a labrum tear in his right shoulder, the Yankees recalled Tyler Wade to the 25-man roster.

We’re just four games into the new season, and there are already nine Yankees that would be on the 25-man roster that instead, make up a rather impressive and expensive injured list.

As the Yanks wait with bated breath to see if rest is the cure for Miguel Andujar’s partially torn right labrum, the club recalled 24-year-old Tyler Wade from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

After not making the big league team out of Spring training, Wade let his emotions fly, saying he was angry and disappointed — that there was nothing more he could have done during Grapefruit League play to earn a roster spot.

Perhaps Wade was right — as the super-utility player slashed .308/.345/.500 with 13 runs scored, seven doubles, one homer and three RBIs in 55 plate appearances. Though the California native did strike out 14 times, he stole four bases while seeing time at six different positions.

However disgruntled the career .161 major league hitter (124 at-bats in 66 games) might have been, is now a wash, as Wade received the call late Monday afternoon that he was needed in New York.

Therefore, Wade did the only sensible thing he could think of, to get from Pennsylvania to the Bronx — take an Uber. Two and a half hours later and around $183 (which the Yankees paid for) Wade was in pinstripes and watched on as his club beat the Tigers 3-1.

Knowing the Yanks are beseeched by injuries, Wade was in an obvious rush to get to the Stadium, as he told the New York Post.

"“Got here as fast as I could,” Wade told reporters after Monday’s 3-1 win, for which he arrived in the seventh inning. “[I thought] don’t hit traffic, I didn’t want to miss the game. I knew it was urgent, we had a short bench. I wanted to get here as fast as I can.”"
