OK, I haven’t written for a while. So I sat down to research for an article. But realized that this Yankees team is doing it for all of us “writers.”

This team has made my job very easy. Who cares about stats at this point? I’ll just sit here and watch the 2018 Yankees walking off every other night (don’t quote me on that, though) and winning the AL East after Twitter managers had everyone who is contributing DFA’d — and manager Aaron Boone fired.

Also, let’s send Giancarlo Stanton down to the minors to “find his swing.”

Umm people, it’s the MIDDLE OF MAY! Look at Stanton’s numbers for this time of year, and he’s already heating up with significant AB’s under his belt. It was only a matter of time. General manager Brian Cashman didn’t trade for the reigning NL MVP for no reason.

Then there’s that person who tweets to us all after every game they win. Yeah, let’s DFA him too. The mad tweeter who broke records and won AL Player of the Month in April.

The man who has made countless athletes weep with his play in the field. He currently finds himself in a slump, so let’s abandon one of the best shortstops in the game!

Sorry, but I LOVE everything that said shortstop brings to the game and after the ones we win with his tweets. His infectious smile especially. So he’s slumping? It happens to all players at one time or another throughout the incredibly long season.

How about Brett Gardner, whom I’ve been defending for years. The guy who puts up quality at-bats nearly every time he comes up to the plate. Even if he doesn’t reach base, he takes a scary amount of pitches consistently, giving his teammates a good look at the opposition and driving up pitch counts.

And of course, there’s his stellar play in the field. Brett is one of the best fielders in the game, posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 2017.

Ever hear of INTANGIBLES? Brett brings veteran leadership to this team of mostly children which is needed. He’s gritty and tough and gives 150% always. There’s no defense required of the qualities he brings to the team when you look at the total package. But some spoiled fans purely consider offensive numbers. There is more to a professional baseball player than just his bat.

But some spoiled fans purely consider offensive numbers. There is more to a professional baseball player than just his bat. Can we please all relax and enjoy watching this team gel and the individual players develop?

Stop with the ridiculous criticism and reactions. Have fun with this team that is destined for greatness for years to come. Realize there will be hiccups and growing pains and forgive them as they happen and know that lessons will be learned from the good, bad and ugly.

Next: Multiple players close to making their returns

The 2018 New York Yankees have 3/4 of the season remaining to be played, and if it’s half as fun and memorable as the first 1/4 has been, fans are in for quite a ride.

Sit back and enjoy it unfold.
