The Yankees so far, have been excellent at beating themselves, and are already in a high-pressure situation early on. The Bombers must win or see Boston widen the gap into a far too comfortable lead. Should Yanks fans be worried? Absolutely!
The Yankees, already 3.5 games behind the high-flying Boston Red Sox, must leave Fenway with at least a split. It is not too early in the season to worry because Boston, like every team in the AL East, will play tougher vs. New York and will be looking to put the Bombers away early.
The Red Sox are a team built to win now with an unsustainable $228 million payroll and will lose many of their best players to free agency between 2019 and 2020. This year is their best chance to go for it all.
Their only real competition for Boston repeating as AL East Champions should come from the Yankees, and that is only if New York can get their house in order.
The Yanks’ starting pitching has been doing their job. The bullpen has been the x-factor in all of their losses. Manager Aaron Boone must find a better strategy in the use of his relievers or he can expect to see the same events repeating themselves over and over again.

Injuries, as far as I can tell, have not cost New York a single loss this year. In fact, with exception to the ‘pen, the bench has been up to the task and in some cases out-played better Yankees’ starters.
One other important observation, Mr. Aaron Boone must stop tipping his cap to each opposing team the Yanks fall to. It is his club and his decisions that have the Bombers virtually beating themselves.
If there is one message I could send to Mr. Boone, it would be:
We are not blind. You have been handed the reigns to the most celebrated sports franchise in history. You have been accepted and given a pass by the major media outlets in NYC, which are typically very tough on Yankees’ managers.
Because you are a respected veteran of our Bombers, they, and many of the fans, are chalking up the recent failures of you being the new guy and your inexperience as a manager.

Please do not let the team and its fans down with questionable decisions and then “tip your cap,” as you repeatedly do, to the Red Sox as you leave Fenway. We wish you the best of luck! Go Yankees!
