The new Yankees skipper has been named and the selection may wow you. But the choice was made by Brian Cashman. So let’s think about it for a moment.

Yankees general manager, Brian Cashman is the winner of the executive of the year in MLB for 2017.

In less than 18 months, he’s assembled one of the top farm systems in all of baseball. And he made a huge trade at the July 31 deadline that didn’t hurt the Yanks but brought the likes of Sonny Gray, Tommy Kahlne, David Robertson and Todd Frazier to the Bronx.

OK, I’m reeling at the prospect of an untrained, inexperienced man leading the Yankees. YIKES! Aaron Boone seems to be qualified by one home run that will always go down in recent Yankees lore as one of the best ever. So that

Aaron Boone seems to be qualified by one home run that will go down in Yankees lore as one of the best moments in team history. So that qualifies him to manage this club?!

However, the man who assembled this current group of blossoming Bombers made the decision.

We will never know what was said during the managerial interviews; just that Aaron Boone obviously said all the right things and that Cashman gave his recommendation to Hal Steinbrenner to make Boone the next manager of the New York YANKEES!

How Boone distinguished himself from the other candidates is only known to Cashman and the team executives that sat in on the proceedings.

Back to Cashman.

How would you like to see your Yankees now, without what he’s (Cashman) ASSEMBLED? The team that made it within one game of the World Series with essentially unproven kids at its core, mixed in with a few veterans.

Do you trust Cashman’s judgment to choose a new man to lead them to the promised land?

Who saw unlimited potential in these kids? Yes, scouts played a large part, but who took their word and put together a team that fans love to root for, no matter what. Who believed in the likes of Aaron Judge or Gary Sanchez, long before they experienced success?

THAT would be Cashman.

So, with Aaron Boone being named Yankees’ manager, I have to accept the fact that Cashman knows exactly what he’s doing. He won the executive of the year award for a reason. He’s shown us what he can do with this current team and what awaits us in the minors.

Now Cashman has made another decision, which we as fans, must respect.

A big thanks go out to you, Brian; and welcome back, Aaron. I have every confidence in you given that Cash chose you above all the other candidates. We are going places that were set by Cashman previously.
