On last night’s episode of the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, we looked ahead to the Yankees-Orioles series this weekend

At the beginning of last night’s Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, I started off by talking about the New York Yankees (69-63) taking two out of three games against the Kansas City Royals. After dropping the first game of the series, the Yankees won back-to-back extra-inning games and showed great fight in coming back from a four-run deficit Wednesday night.

Tonight is the first game where the Yankees can play with an expanded roster. This week, they made a couple of trades as they dealt outfielder Ben Gamel to the Seattle Mariners and acquired Eric Young Jr. from the Brewers, who is now on the Yankees 40-man roster.

Right now, the Yankees are 2.5 games back in the second Wild Card race. They begin a three game series tonight against the Baltimore Orioles (72-61) at Camden Yards. Last weekend, the Bronx Bombers won two out of three games against Baltimore at Yankee Stadium and they are 7-6 against Buck Showalter’s club this season.

More from Yanks Go Yard

This week, the Orioles lost two out of three games against the Toronto Blue Jays. During the month of August, Baltimore went 13-16, which was the second fewest wins they had in any month this year. Adam Jones is back in the lineup tonight after missing the last five games due to a hamstring injury.

During the month of August, three Baltimore Orioles (Manny Machado, Chris Davis, and Mark Trumbo) each hit ten home runs. Plus, the offense had eight different players drive in double-digit runs, including Machado with 25 RBI’s and Trumbo with 21.

Next: A Lineup Change Could Empower Judge

On the mound, the Orioles have the second highest team ERA in the American League (4.73). Chris Tillman is still out of the rotation due to a shoulder injury. In that last Yankees series, Kevin Gausman threw seven shutout innings to help the O’s avoid the sweep as he got his first road win of the season.

To talk more about the Orioles, my guest on the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show was Scott Rosario, the co-host of BMore Wired. Scott gave his take on the O’s acquiring outfielders Drew Stubbs and Michael Bourn. Plus, how much did the loss of Jones during the Blue Jays series hurt the lineup? Here are some of the other topics we discussed:

  • Takeaways from last series against the Yankees
  • Pitching Matchup Breakdown
  • Dylan Bundy (Tonight’s Orioles starter) hasn’t faced a team more than once this season before tonight
