On last night’s Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, we looked ahead to the Yankees weekend series at home against the Indians.

At the beginning of last night’s Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, I talked about the New York Yankees (54-54) splitting a four game series against the New York Mets. Plus, I gave my take on Luis Severino being back in the starting rotation and whether or not it is time for the Bronx Bombers to cut Alex Rodriguez.

This weekend, the Yankees will be hosting the Cleveland Indians (61-45) at Yankee Stadium for a three game series. Before the All-Star Break, the Yankees took three of four from the Indians at Progressive Field. But, a lot has changed since then, including the Indians now having Andrew Miller in the back of their bullpen.

More from Yanks Go Yard

Coming into tonight, the Indians have a three game lead over the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central, but in their series against the Twins this week, they lost three of four games and gave up 37 runs in the process. During that series, they had to put starter Danny Salazar on the disabled list because of elbow soreness.

Since the All-Star Break, the Indians are 9-9 and have the second highest ERA of any team in the American League. Adding Miller into the mix should help a bullpen that has blown ten saves this season and Cody Allen having an ERA of 2.54.

As far as the offense goes, the Indians are tied for the third most runs scored in the AL (94). First baseman Mike Napoli is hitting .299 with nine home runs and 16 RBI’s over his last 18 games. Another player to watch on the Indians offense is rookie center fielder Tyler Naquin, who has four home runs and 12 RBI’s in his last 15 games.

Last night, my guest on the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show was the editor at Wahoo’s On First, Matt Bretz. Matt gave his take on the Salazar injury and how will manager Terry Francona use his new look bullpen. Here are some of the other topics we discussed:

  • Thoughts on the prospects the Indians gave back for Miller?
  • Was yesterday’s win their biggest of the season?
  • Pitching Matchup Breakdown
  • Josh Tomlin (Tonight’s Indians starter) is 6-1 away from Progressive Field
  • Michael Pineda (Tonight’s Yankees starter) coming off four walks in his last start
  • Corey Kluber (Saturday’s Indians starter) has given up three runs over his last 21 innings
  • Why Joe Girardi should’ve taken out C.C. Sabathia (Saturday’s Yankees starter) earlier in Monday’s game against the Mets
  • Carlos Carrasco (Sunday’s Indians starter) has a 1.56 ERA in six day games in 2016
  • Masahiro Tanaka (Sunday’s Yankees starter) has only 12 strikeouts in his last three starts
  • Yankees hitters to watch: Didi Gregorius and Rob Refsnyder
  • Indians hitters to watch: Carlos Santana and Francisco Lindor
  • Thoughts on the Tigers chasing the Indians in the AL Central?
