On this episode, we talked about our takeaways from Spring Training and made our predictions for the upcoming season

On Thursday night’s episode of the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, my guests, two members of the YGY team recapped spring training and looked ahead to the 2016 regular season. Those two guests were co-editor Mike Daniello and staff writer/frequent co-host Harrison Marder.

Before we made our predictions, our first topics of discussion were the chip fracture in Andrew Miller’s right wrist and Bryan Mitchell’s fractured left toe. With Mitchell now out, what does mean for the rest of the Yankees’ bullpen and what kind of role will Luis Cessa and Johnny Barbato have now that they are on the 25-man roster?

The three of us looked at the number five spot competition, which has since been won by C.C. Sabathia (will start April 9 at Detroit), and we looked at Ronald Torreyes winning the backup infielder spot over Pete Kozma and Rob Refsnyder.

Then, we talked about our standouts of spring training, which included second baseman Starlin Castro (.409, two home runs, 11 RBI’s), left-handed reliever Chasen Shreve, who has yet to give up a hit this spring and backup catcher Austin Romine (.306, one home run, eight RBI’s).

In our prediction segment, we started off with some Yankee specific picks, which included who hits the most home runs, who drives in the most runs, who has the best WAR and who has the most wins on the pitching staff. Plus, which Yankee gets to 400 career home runs first: Mark Teixeira or Carlos Beltran and does Alex Rodriguez pass Babe Ruth on the all-time home run list this year?

For the final segment, it was time for our MLB predictions. Where do all of us have the Yankees finishing in the AL East and who do we like to win the World Series? Two of us like the same team to win, but you will have to listen to the full show to find out who that team is.

Be sure to tune in tonight at 8 PM ET for our first series preview show of the 2016 season. To help us preview the upcoming Astros-Yankees series at Yankee Stadium, my guest will be Eric Huysman, the editor of Climbing Tal’s Hill and the host of Talking Astros. You can listen to my segment with Eric by clicking here and going to the one hour mark.
