Speaking of Mateo, if you blinked then you probably missed his triple that sparked New York’s offense in what would become the winning inning. The guy has rockets for feet! Mateo pulverized a pitch into left field that had everyone in the stands and announcers’ booths, and even Mateo himself, in awe of what looked to be an impressive home-run. But the ball caromed into the wall, and that’s when Mateo flipped the turbo switch. After initially jogging to first base in a home-run trot, Mateo stretched his hit into extra bases and ended up with a triple.

A triple. On a ball hit to left field. After jogging one-third of the way. Does that even make logical baseball sense? It’s no wonder the kid stole 82 bases in the minors last season!
