Last night’s episode of the show had reaction to the Starlin Castro trade and more on the Jose Fernandez rumors.
On last night’s episode of the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, the major storyline that was discussed was the New York Yankees acquiring Starlin Castro for the Chicago Cubs in exchange for Adam Warren and Brendan Ryan.
For me, this is a great deal for the Yankees because New York gets their second baseman for the next four years and a player that is coming off hitting .295 in the second half this season and hit .426 in the month of September. Meanwhile, the Cubs get a good piece in Warren who will help out their bullpen or starting rotation and their manager, Joe Maddon, will find ways to put him in the best position to succeed.

My first guest on the show was Mark Laming, the editor at Marlin Maniac. Mark and I discussed the latest trade rumors on Jose Fernandez and whether or not he believes Fernandez will be a member of the Miami Marlins on Opening Day. What kind of package does Miami want for their ace and why the Yankees do not seem to be a match for Fernandez? Plus, Mark gives us his thoughts on Barry Bonds as hitting coach, Don Mattingly as manager, a possible contract extension for second baseman Dee Gordon, and what is on Miami’s wish list this offseason?
In our second segment, my guests were Yanks Go Yard contributor Harrison Marder and Andrew Miller, one of our former members of the social media team. The three of us talked about Castro, Fernandez, the Cubs signing Ben Zobrist to a four-year deal, what Jason Heyward might get as a free agent this winter, and the big trade between the Diamondbacks and Braves involving Shelby Miller

Finally, Jacob Misener, the editor at Cubbies Crib, joined me to talk about what kind of player the Yankees are getting in Castro and how he has the chance to put up good numbers in New York. Plus, what are his thoughts on the Zobrist contract, does he see the Cubs making a play at Heyward, where does Adam Warren slide into the Chicago bullpen/starting rotation, and what is the next move that Theo Epstein might make this offseason?
