On last night’s episode, we reacted to the Yankees’ interest in Asdrubal Cabrera, Jose Fernandez, and much more.

Starting last night, the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show is bringing you a one hour show every night during this year’s Winter Meetings in Nashville, Tennessee. Before we got into the latest New York Yankees news, we went back to this past weekend and reacted to the big news from the Diamondbacks.

Last Friday, Arizona was able to surprise the baseball world and sign free agent starting pitcher Zack Greinke to a six-year, $206.5 million contract. To talk about this surprise signing, I spoke with Tom Lynch, who is the editors for the Diamondbacks’ Fansided site, Venom Strikes.

In addition to talking about the impact Greinke has on Chip Hale’s rotation, Tom and I discussed Arizona’s new TV deal, the latest rumors involving starting pitcher Mike Leake, could the team trade for either Shelby Miller or Julio Teheran for the Braves, and will the team trade star outfielder A.J. Pollock this winter.

Plus according to Jayson Stark of ESPN, the Diamondbacks are one of three teams (along with the Yankees) that have called the Miami Marlins about Jose Fernandez. What would it take to get that deal done and is it a realistic possibility for Dave Stewart, Tony La Russa, and the front office?

For our next segment, my guest was Harrison Marder, one of the contributors here at Yanks Go Yard. Harrison and I discussed the Yankees’ interest in Asdrubal Cabrera and why the words “tight budget” from the Jon Morosi tweet should at least provide some anger to fans.

More from Yankees News

After talking about what it might take from the Yankees to get Fernandez from the Marlins, we discussed the disturbing story reported by Jeff Passan and Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports about the alleged domestic violence incident involving Aroldis Chapman.

Finally, we talked about the Red Sox making some of the best moves of the winter so far by acquiring reliever Carson Smith and starter Roenis Elias from the Seattle Mariners for starter Wade Miley. Hear why Harrison thinks the Yankees should be answering all these moves by Boston as they used to do in the past.
