New York Yankees News: Gary Sanchez Off to a Hot Start in Arizona Fall League

New York Yankees catching prospect Gary Sanchez – the former no.1 overall minor leaguer in the Yankees farm system in 2013, is one of eight Yankees playing in the 2015 Arizona Fall League. Sometimes players are sent to the Arizona Fall League to fine-tune their mechanics while others are sent because they are being challenged by their general manager to prove that they belong.

Whatever the case may be for Gary Sanchez, he’s off to a tremendous start.

In the Arizona Fall League opener on Tuesday October 13th, Sanchez started at catcher and batted cleanup for the Surprise Saguaros, going 2-for-4 with a three-run homer against prized Braves pitching prospect Lucas Sims, who allowed just three home runs in 92.2 innings at Double-A during the regular season.

Yesterday, Gary Sanchez continued his hot-start against the Peoria Javelinas, going 3-for-4 with another home run. Sanchez was playing DH and batted fourth for the Saguaros’.

In 2015 Gary Sanchez went a combined .274 with 18 home runs and 62 RBI in 58-games with Trenton (AA) and 35-games played with Scranton (AAA).

After somewhat of a downward trend between 2013 and 2014, Gary Sanchez is finally starting to show his true potential. Hopefully he can keep developing and become a valuable asset to the future of the New York Yankees.
