Yankees News: CC Sabathia To Miss Start After Toronto Nightclub Fight

CC Sabathia was scheduled to start tonight against the Minnesota Twins but after a fight in Toronto, Bryan Mitchell will start in Sabathia’s place.

According to a TMZ video, Sabathia can be seen arguing outside of a Toronto nightclub as a fight breaks out. Before Sabathia could get into further trouble, friends of his pushed him into a taxi.

“Bad decision on my part,” Sabathia said Monday at Yankee Stadium. “I probably should have just kept quiet and got in the cab. I’m just glad I got in the cab before everything went down. But I didn’t know anything that was happening. I didn’t know that big fight and everything happened after.”

Sabathia said he couldn’t recall what exactly triggered him but admitted it had to do with someone saying something about his playing ability.

“I just flipped out,” he said. “It happens. You don’t hide. I go to dinner. I do different things. Sometimes … it was a bad night. They caught me at a bad time. Got a bad reaction. I was just leaving. It was literally 25 seconds of me and then I was gone.”

The pitcher informed manager Joe Girardi about the incident but said his scratch from the rotation has nothing to do with the incident.

What CC is most worried about though is explaining the ordeal to his 12-year-old son.

“It’s tough because I have a 12-year-old now and he has a cell phone and he’ll see this and I got to explain this to him,” Sabathia said. “That’s the toughest part: ‘Dad had a bad night. Made a bad decision. Sometimes these things happen.’”
