New York Yankees Rumors: Craig Kimbrel Coming To The Bronx?
Earlier this week, there were rumors of the New York Yankees acquiring Craig Kimbrel from the Padres. The Padres asked for Jorge Mateo in return. The Yankees said no and went about their way back into the market place.
But dominoes began to fall. David Price to Toronto. Cole Hamels to Texas. Mat Latos to the LA Dodgers.
The Yankees so far have added Dustin Ackley and it looks like their deadline haul may include the Padre closer as well.
Kimbrel partnered with Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller would obviously give the Yankees a devastating trio in the bullpen. However, their starting rotation remains an issue. Michael Pineda is out for a month. CC Sabathia is a roller coaster. Masahiro Tanaka is hot and cold. Now if the Yankees can get one of the Padres starters in addition to Kimbrel we have something. Or if they can make a trade separate from this for a starter that’ll make sense too. The next 18 hours should be fun. The Dustin Ackley trade may be the tip of the iceberg. Strap in.
