New York Yankees Editorial: Chase Headley Turning Things Around
Chase Headley has been a bit of an enigma. His defense is supposed to be his calling card while his offense was supposed to be pretty good too. Well, this season, the defense has been uneven and his offense has been up and down, but this month Headley has caught absolute fire.

Headley is hitting .344 with a homer and 11 RBI. He’s also been error free in his last 23 games. Maybe it’s dropping back in the lineup since Jacoby Ellsbury‘s return or maybe it’s just feeling good. Whatever Headley is doing this month, he should keep it going.
“I felt like I had swung the bat better than what it showed, for a while,” Headley said Sunday. “When that happens you gotta just keep going and hope that it works out.”
It’s certainly worked out for Headley this month and the New York Yankees need him to perform. Headley’s switch-hitting ability gives them a nice balance within the lineup. The ability to run out three different switch-hitters in the lineup is something a lot of teams don’t have the ability to do, and it also gives the opposing manager a harder time to match up with the Yankee lineup in the late innings.
Headley isn’t going to keep this up forever, but he’s a solid third baseman and when he gets hot he’s shown that he can stay that way. He’s had good seasons in the past and hopefully his success, like the team’s just keeps snowballing.
