This pass Tuesday three lucky Yankees got to participate in the Mid-Summer classic. The three Yankees got to help the American League win, and beat the National League to win home filed advantage. All three players got to enter the game, and contribute to help the AL win in a 6-3 win.

Mark Teixeira last All Star game was in 2009. That year the American League was able to beat the National League to gain home field advantage. The Yankees were able to take advantage by winning the World Series against the Phillies. Tex has had a resurgence year that he thanks to his no fun diet. Mark Teixeira hopes that the New York Yankees will have the same luck as in 2009.

"I was on that All-Star team in ’09 when we won, and I expected us to be in the World Series,’ Teixeira said. ‘We needed that win. I’m hoping to be there this year."

Dellin Betances got to go to his second consecutive All Star game, but this year he was able to pitch the seventh inning. Betances like he has done all year for the New York Yankees threw a scoreless seventh inning.

"‘This year was definitely awesome,’ said Betances. ‘Getting in there, getting to know a lot of these guys, they’re great guys. It was a lot of fun. Hopefully, I continue to work hard and make some more of these.’"

With Mark Teixeira and Dellin Betances being a multiple time All Star it was nice seeing new Yankee blood going to their first All Star game. Brett Gardner did not make the initial All Star roster, but injury opened up a space for the left-handed hitter. Brett Gardner has improved every year, and this is his best season to date.

"It was a whirlwind. It flew by, but I enjoyed every minute of it,’ Gardner said. ‘There’s obviously a lot of commitments that we have to do outside of just playing the game and coming to the Derby, but there’s a lot of fun. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. I know my family really enjoyed it."

It was a nice little break for the New York Yankees , and was great to have these few Yankees honored. Of course it would have been nice to have another All Star, cough Alex Rodriguez cough, but Friday starts the second half of hopefully a great Yankees run.
