The San Diego Padres may have won the off-season, but the on field results have not been there. In fact, after all of their moves, their record is exactly the same as last season. The biggest buyer of the off-season, could be the biggest seller of the July trade season.
Justin Upton, Craig Kimbrel, Ian Kennedy, Will Venable may soon be available on trade market. My column: http://t.co/tpF7ox8igG @FOXSports

If the New York Yankees aren’t going to go with one of the big names there from the Padres, (I’d love Upton, but I can’t see that happening) the guy I would target if I were them is Tyson Ross to upgrade the rotation. Ross has two more years of arbitration left, but after his breakout campaign last year, this year has not been one of his best.

He’s been a victim of two things. One. his walk rate has gone up from 3.31 to 4.6 this season. Secondly, he’s pitched in bad luck. His BABIP against is an absurd .339 compared to .291 last season. A team with a better defense, like the Yankees could help him improve.
Ross spoke to Fangraphs about his increased walk rate and the fact he’s using his sinker more this year.
"Ross admitted that the four-seamer isn’t a primary part of his arsenal any more, and his response might have a clue for us about his walk rate this year. “The four-seamer used to be a pitch that I threw 0-0 and try to get a strike with, but I’m trying to get more feel with the sinker, because that’s a pitch I can throw and have a good margin for error with it in the strike zone.”"
The Padres need help in the infield. Someone like Ali Castillo or Rob Refsnyder could headline a package to help bring the righty to the Bronx. A.J. Preller is aggressive and if the Yankees are aggressive enough it could work.
Ross keeps the ball down, which in Yankee Stadium is a important. He’s young and cost controlled for another two years unlike Johnny Cueto and Cole Hamels. Maybe Larry Rothschild can help him with his sinker and being less predictable with it
The Yankees made a deal for a young righty in Nathan Eovaldi in the off-season. Could they do it again for another?
