New York Yankees Editorial: Why CC Sabathia is Yankees Biggest Conundrum

This July will be the most important month for the Yankees this year. This is the month where they need to figure out what to add to the Yankees lineup and pitching staff. The Yankees have two main concerns defense, and pitching. The Yankees will need to figure out the CC Sabathia situation before the Brian Cashman can make a move, and improve the club this year.

When looking at the starting rotation on paper, the Yankees have one of the strongest rotation in baseball. If you heard that the Yankees had to put Adam Warren in the bullpen, because they had too much starting pitching, one would think the Yankees had enough starting pitching. As Lee Corso would say, “Not, so fast my friend,” the Yankees rotation has under performed vastly this year. The main culprit is Sabathia.

In 2009, CC Sabathia was the horse of the rotation and was able to bring back number 27 to the Bronx.  Now in 2015 if the Yankees CC Sabathia would not make the post season roster. Numbers wise CC Sabathia is the number 5 starter for the Yankees, and going by number Adam Warren should have stayed in the rotation over CC. The reason CC Sabathia is still in the rotation is his leadership.

With Derek Jeter gone, people wonder who would fill the void. CC Sabathia has filled that void. He is a vocal person, and commands respect being a World Series, and Cy Young Award winner. He is the veteran on the staff that pitchers comes to talk to you about certain situation. You need that type of pitcher in your rotation, and that is CC Sabathia.

As the end of July gets closer by the day, if CC Sabathia does not approve Brian Cashman will be put in an awkward situation. Should he go after another starting pitching, and place CC in the bullpen, or does he roll the dice and hope CC Sabathia will figure it out.

Personally I would like CC Sabathia to stay in the rotation, I think he will figure it all out, and help the Yankees make the playoff. Do you think CC Sabathia should stay in the rotation?
