On this busy Friday night in sports, the Yankees were able to win game two of this four game series, against the Astros. While many people were watching the USA Women’s National Team get another step closer to winning the World Cup, Nathan Eovaldi had a quality start and got the win over the Houston Astros.

It was a homecoming for Nathan Eovaldi, as he was born in the state of Texas. Eovaldi had lots of family and friends at the ball game wearing Yankee shirts.  Eovaldi did not disappoint the home town crowd as Eovaldi had one of his stronger starts of the season. Thankfully the Yankees were able to get some runs for Eovaldi in the top of the seventh.

Eovaldi went six innings striking out six, walking two Astros, and gave up five hits. The first run he gave up was with two outs on a single by rookie shortstop, Carlos Correa. Then in the bottom of the sixth with two out again, Evan Gattis got a bloop single that was able to score Jose Altuve, who was on second.

In the top of the seventh the Yankees finally were able to put some runs on the board. Carlos Beltran and Garrett Jones were able to get back to back singles, and the Astros made a pitching change after those two singles. The Astros brought in Will Harris to face Chris Young, and turned out to be the wrong move for the Astros. Chris Young was able to belt a home run off of Harris to give the lead to the Yankees for the first time in the series 3-2.

The Yankees bullpen was fantastic, and able to get the last nine outs to win the game 3-2. In particular Chasen Shreve was able to strikeout the side in the bottom of the seventh. Then Dellin Betances was able to come back from his worst outing to get a four out save.

The Yankees will be going to try to take a series lead over the Astros on Saturday at 4:10, where Masahiro Tanaka looks to rebound from the worst start of his career.
