New York Yankee News: The Yankees Play Merry Go Round with Pitching Staff

With the injury to Andrew Miller, the Yankees have looked for a few reliable bullpen arms. Brian Cashmen, and Joe Girardi are holding an open competition in the bullpen. They have been calling people up and sending people down for the past week or so, and we here at Yanks Go Yard are here to help you with all the new faces and up to the second updates.

This week Ivan Nova will be activated off the DL and make his first major league start since coming of tommy john surgery with the Yankees. His addition to the staff raises questions about the fifth starter of the rotation, Adam Warren. Last year, Adam Warren was a reliable bullpen pitcher, now he has become a reliable starter. I do not think Warren deserves to be sent to the bullpen, but he is needed more than ever in the bullpen.

Sergio Santos who was acquired earlier in the year has to be place on the DL, and will be done for the year with Tommy John surgery. At the same time right-handed pitcher, Chris Martin was sent down to the Triple A ball club, because he was struggling. The Yankees in response to these two pitchers was calling up Bryan Mitchell, and Branden Pinder.

Bryan Mitchell was called up on June 19, and then he was optioned back to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on June 21. His replacement was Danny Burawa, but do not get used to that name, as he was optioned the very next day. Along with Burawa, the Yankee optioned reliever Jose De Paula, who was up with the team since June 17. To replace these two pitchers the Yankees called up Diego Moreno and Nick Rumbelow.

Now that you are caught up with all the pitching changes the Yankees have made over the last several days, they have made a position player move. On Friday Mason Williams was put on the 15 day DL with right shoulder inflammation. He injured the shoulder while sliding back to first base on a pick off play. Williams does not seem to concerned about the injury, as he has dealt with this injury in the past. With Willams on the DL, the Yankees recalled Ramon Flores.

Hopefully you are caught up with all the Yankee moves in recent day. I would not go buy any of these guys jersey’s anytime soon, as the Yankee Carousel will continue.
