The injuries for the New York Yankees continue to mount. Now replacements for players are going down. You hate to see a prospect you’re starting to evaluate go down. This is exactly what happened to the Yankees and now they’ll have a chance to take a look at another prospect.

Slade Heathcott hit the 15-day DL with a quad strain and Ramon Flores will be joining the team tonight in Oakland.
The 24 year old was hitting .353 in his first six major league games with a homer and three RBI.
The 23 year old Flores is hitting .294/.389/.425 with four homers and 15 RBI in 42 games. Flores can play all three outfield spots, however, he’s predominantly a left fielder. If Joe Girardi is going to play him (and who knows if that’s going to happen because Stephen Drew keeps playing while Jose Pirela sits on the bench) that means Brett Gardner will be moving to center.
With Chris Young slumping, and Garrett Jones never really playing, there’s no reason for Flores not to be given a shot to play. I’ve been a big supporter of Flores in this space before and I’m curious to see how he’ll do at the major league level. He’s not going to exactly cure everything that ails the Yankees, but maybe if they can catch lightning in a bottle and he can help out for a little while.
