As the New York Yankees, or as the the Mets like to call them “NY (AL)” played the last game in the Subway Series a few days back, a little dispute took place on Twitter. While this happened during the game on Sunday, whoever runs the team’s accounts had their own game.
As the Yankees scored in the fifth inning, the Mets Twitter account tweeted the following. “NY (AL) grabs a run in the fifth. We trail 6-4”. The Yankees Twitter account replied back with this witty tweet. “Yankees. We are the YANKEES.”
The Mets then tweeted back saying: “thanks for the update. We like to be associated with the great city of New York but if you don’t like to that’s cool”. Make of this what you will, but for humor’s sake hopefully there’s more of this next Subway Series. The next time the Yankees take on the Mets won’t be until September 18th, the second to last week of the season for another three game series.
